Zehra and Olgun both work in the cafeteria of a service station on the motorway linking Istanbul to Ankara, for their families need their pay to make ends meet. Both of them try to relieve the monotony of their daily lives by dreaming about something which allows them to escape from it. For Zehra, it’s Prince Charming who carries her off to daydream. At home, she has to live with parents who strictly observe tradition. For Olgun, who also dreams of escaping from a commonplace life and freeing his mother from the alcoholic husband he despises, it’s a television game he wants to join in, which will bring him fame, fortune and marriage with Zehra. Life will soon bring them back to harsh reality.

The future young men or young women from the working classes imagine to be in store for them, is not far from the absence of perspective and the powerlessness of Zehra and Olgun; and their realisation of that fact is as sad as it is frightening.” Yeşim Ustaoğlu.
