A young woman, Daping, and her companion Chen Jin live an isolated life in the heart of a big city in southern China. After both being obliged to leave the countryside, they have found comfort in each other from their loneliness, and their hard living conditions have created strong ties between them. When lovely Haili appears, whom Chen Jin knew in the past, their whole life takes a new turn. Haili wants to forget her life in the country so as to take full advantage of what city life can offer her. She then gets Chen Jin involved in her schemes, while Daping looks on helplessly…

I didn’t want to turn the male character into a “bad guy” in the film ; he’s part of these two women’s life stories... The two main female characters are completely different. The story isn’t about a love triangle. They are people who feel compassion for each other. Living conditions are difficult. They are totally aware of how fragile existence is. The film concentrates on characters who have to take each other into account.” Yin Lichuan.
