The Syrian plastic arts remained classical and realistic until the fifties last century. Then, a new generation of painters came and renewed this art by attending many European schools. For about fifty years, Fateh Moudarres has produced a unique painting nurtured with a tremendous memory made of light, colour and whispering, as well as a life full of pain and unhappiness. He is also a fine scholar and a prolific novelist. For forty years, he turned his studio in the centre of Damascus into a place where people met and discussed about art.
