After his best friend Kizuki committed suicide, Watanabe leaves Kobe for Tokyo where he starts studying at university. With students’ riots in the background, his life is utterly changed when he meets Kizuki’s girl friend Naoko. She could not overcome her boy friend’s death and has become totally withdrawn. Watanabe and Naoko spend their Sundays together and become even closer on the night Naoko celebrates her twentieth birthday. The next day she disappears, causing Watanabe a deep grief. He meets Midori, a beautiful, bright and funny young girl who only wishes to love Watanabe. He finally gets a letter from Naoko.
Adapted from Haruki Murakami‘s very famous novel, Norwegian Wood was shot in Japan with Japanese actors.
