In Nepal, poor children coming from the mountains and from slums meet by thousands, often out of their own will, in ephemeral schools with naïve and poetical architecture. Uttam Sanjel, a former filmmaker for Bollywood TV serials, has been dreaming of giving all poor Nepali children an education. Without really knowing where he was heading, and without any proper formation, having no qualms but truly touched by the children’s misery, he wanted to recreate the conditions for a good education in his country. Using his knowledge in the art of imagining, staging and acting, he has become the director of utopia at the age of 25: one monthly euro by child for low cost structure schools with the best teachers in Nepal and young head masters full of energy.
The Bamboo Schools spark off a palpable enthusiasm and a true motivation for learning.
