In Shantiniketan, a small town 150 kms away from noisy Calcutta, the poet Rabindranath Tagore founded the Viswa Bharati center. He wanted to create a peaceful place where the civilizations from the East and the West would merge, where nature would inspire men. Growth in India has accelerated for some time, and Shantiniketan is not sheltered from the upheaval going with this growth. Will the Indian poet’s utopian project survive globalization?

The film allows some of Shantiniketan’s inhabitants to express: peasants, artists, political or association activists.
