On top of the Balliova (the honey valley) mountain is a Turkish flag on which one can read "Happy is the one claiming to be Turk". Down in the valley, a cow looks at the flag and dies of a broken heart. Azad has come back to the village to see his fiancée. Dol is the terrible and magnificent story of this man who, on his wedding day, has to flee Turkish Kurdistan. During his escape, he crosses Iraqi Kurdistan, then Iranian Kurdistan, sharing his tragic destiny with other Kurds…
