Doctor Duong Duinh Hoa is now seventy. She comes from a wealthy family and as a child, she had everything she could possibly wish for. Yet, as a nationalist she chose the Vietcong camp. In 1975, after the fall of Saigon, she dedicates her whole life to others. As a paediatrician, she opens her first dispensary in the former military hospital of Saigon, soon followed by other centres in the delta of the Mekong. Tirelessly, she cares for the most destitute and, while others are preoccupied by their retirement, she keeps working in these centres. This film portrays a great lady, whose life is a fight, and her fight is happiness.
