In a hospital for elephants in Thailand, men and animals coexist for months on end, their lives intertwined. It is a limbo where time stands still, taken up by the nursing of the animals and intimate conversations amongst the caretakers. More than a mere account of day-today activities, this is the chronicle of a slowly vanishing sanctuary—a dying Eden. The ailing hulks of the elephants, the rough faces and bodies of their caretakers, the ancestral stories: everything seems on hold, for what little time is left.
