Old Bekina has decided to remarry. His son fears his meager inheritance might be shared with a new child to be born, but his father does not care. Platon then decides to find the ‘ideal’ wife’ for his father: a childless widow who is sterile. In his search he is accompanied his friend Kirile, whose only preoccupation is to eat and drink. Elene Bregcadzé seems to be the ideal person in every respect. Platon takes her home. The marriage is celebrated and soon Elene gives birth to a son. This is the daily life of the countryside gentry before the revolution. This film made in 1978 is a remake of “The Cruel Mother of Samanichvili”, a film Kote Mardazanisvili and Zakari Berisvili made in 1927.
