Daya and her mother Berlian have been living alone in a remote village by the seaside, after being abandoned by the young girl’s father years ago. Berlian, a cold withdrawn woman rarely speaking nor smiling, looks after her daughter with an excessive protective instinct, and never calls her by her name. Daya is a young adolescent always smiling who takes things as they come; she enjoys lying on the sand to listen to the whispering she can hear and dreams of meeting her father again. When a series of wild murders occurs in the village, the two women realize it is now time to leave the place…
