A father comes to Hong Kong to avenge his daughter shot by hired killers. His passport mentions ‘chef’. 20 years ago he was a professional killer.

“I immediately felt a great masculinity in him (Johnny Hallyday). However it is only when I met him that I understood we would be able to work together. I had to see him to feel all that he could express. His look, figure, presence, face and his unbelievable eyes, full of a past one can imagine intense.” Johnnie To.

“It was my very first visit to Asia, and in fact it perfectly suited my character. He is alone, lost in Hong Kong. I was indeed the same. This is how reality served fiction. People always say that an actor interprets his own past. Well, for this film I have used the present. What I was living and feeling being in Hong Kong is also what I expressed while playing.” Johnny Hallyday.

East-West: a French star lead actor in a thriller directed by a Hong Kong master of cinema.
